Planning & Scheduling Manager

The Manager of Planning & Scheduling leads the Planning & Scheduling team. The manager will coordinate the team’s activities to ensure a timely flow of material within the Waukegan plant and effective production scheduling of multiple production cells in support of on-time production and shipping of the product.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Demand Forecasts at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons as part of a demand planning function. Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast results.
  • Establish Order Points, Order Qty’s and Safety Stock levels while monitoring inventory levels of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods to prevent shortages or excess stock. Implement inventory control measures to optimize inventory turnover while minimizing carrying costs and order costs.
  • Develop and maintain production schedules, taking into account factors such as customer demand, resource availability, and production capacity. Collaborate with sales, operations, and procurement teams to forecast demand and plan production accordingly.
  • Coordinate with production supervisors, team leaders, and maintenance staff to allocate resources effectively, including manpower, equipment, and materials, to meet production targets and customer deadlines
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production output, cycle time, on-time delivery, and schedule adherence. Analyze performance data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions to address deviations from targets.
  • Analyze lead times for production processes and identify opportunities to reduce lead times and improve production cycle times. Implement strategies to streamline workflows, eliminate waste, and increase throughput in partnership with the operation leaders.

 

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in demand forecasting and predictive modeling.
  • Ability to use historical data and market trends to anticipate production needs
  • Skills in managing inventory levels to meet production demands without overstocking.
  • Understanding of just-in-time (JIT) and lean inventory principles.
  • Expertise in MRP software to coordinate material and production planning.
  • Capability to create, maintain, and adjust the master production schedule (MPS).

 

Education:

Bachelor's degree (B.A. / B.S.) from a four-year college or university; and five years of related experience
