Senior Process Engineer - Paper and Corrugating

Essential Responsibilities

  • Execute steam and condensate projects to achieve the technical and financial goals of the project. Projects are paper mill dryer drainage systems, steam conditioning systems, and steam coil and pocket ventilation drainage systems.
  • Develop project scope, requirements, and timing with customers.
  • Participate in regular project meetings with customers to execute project objectives to customer satisfaction.
  • Create, review, and release new and updated Process Flow Diagrams, Process & Instrumentation Diagrams, equipment specifications, and pipe sizing, including fieldwork and drafting.
  • Create process flowsheets and design machine steam and condensate systems using Deublin proprietary simulation program and calculations.
  • Win new capital projects by producing technical reports to demonstrate productivity increases, efficiency gains, and reduced energy consumption for paper mills.
  • Prepare capital project proposals, datasheets, and written specifications.
  • Participate in and oversee on-site installation and commissioning of new steam and condensate systems, including start-up, post-start-up, and operator training at paper mills.
  • Provide follow-up technical support and service.
  • Assist paper mills with troubleshooting aspects of steam and condensate systems and dryer drainage systems.
  • Engage in technical and commercial activities to grow revenues and margins for the paper market.
  • Provide sales support for systems offerings, including the creation of value propositions.
  • Create and ensure compliance with Deublin Global Engineering Documentation Standards

 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • BS Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or BS in Paper Science
  • Experience with paper machines, paper drying, and paper machine drying equipment, including controls technology and steam specialty operations is a must.
  • Experience in project management, results-oriented.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to define problems, collect and interpret complex technical business data, weigh alternatives, and make valid decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to outline and write effective technical and commercial materials for both customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, groups of managers, and customers.
  • Ability to work with complex steam and condensate simulation and design program(s), understand and interpret fundamental control system logic, and use analytical and mathematical tools to interpret data and design paper machine steam and condensate systems.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Willing and physically able to work in an industrial environment and production atmosphere and climb in/around equipment.
  • Willing and physically able to travel (fly/drive) both domestic and international up to 50% of the time.

 

This position is located at our Waukegan location and works in the office four days per week with one day per week remote.
